Riding 1000km's to change lives

My Activity Tracking

My target 1000 kms

I'm fundraising for a great cause!

My older sister Joanne has suffered from Type 1 diabetes since she was a very young teenager. Having to inject herself 4 times a day, manage her diet, deal with a triple heart bypass by 40 and lots of other issues I want to help. So I’m doing the JDRF One Ride to raise funds for type 1 diabetes! This means I will be riding from 29th Aug to 20th September alongside the world’s biggest cycling event in France (but from Sydney!!). While I am challenging myself and competing against other cyclists, I am also raising funds to support research to cure, prevent and better treat type 1 diabetes. I normally ride about 600km a month so I need to really step up!

Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 7 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy. JDRF is the largest funder of type 1 diabetes research in the world.

DONATE NOW to help change the lives of more than 120,000 Australians living with T1D. Thank you!

Sunday ride to La Perouse

Sunday 13th Sep
Had a great easy ride out to La Perouse today, nice and flat, and stopped for a coffee in the city. Clocked up 65kms so really bringing it home now.

HHGG Saturday Ride - 94km

Sunday 13th Sep
Had a good day today. Rode from home to Beecroft, down to Homebush, across to Five Dock, into the city and then laps at Lane Cover National Park. Clocked up 94kms so that really got me back on track.

Broken spoke

Sunday 13th Sep
Today I got up at 415am to get some extra kms in before the rest of the group joined me. Was aiming for 60 but I broke a spoke so had to gently ride home and only hit 32 which is a bummer. Falling behind as I was lazy and did not ride Monday!

Sunday 13th Sep
Well  on  Friday I took a spill riding too fast around a corned at Pymble. Banged my head pretty hard on the ground and also my shoulder plus a nice gravel rash on my hip. Managed to ride home and still clock up 37kms but aiming for 50!

Wednesday 2nd Sept

Wednesday 2nd Sep
Well up again at 430am and on the bike at 5am to do some local laps before joining 4 others from the HHGG group for a spin out to Parramatta Park and back. Luckily Tom got a flat so I could do another lap to get some more km's in. Thanks Tom. Very thoughful of you and caring or Mark to suggest it (while he waited...)
It was pretty cold but its getting lighter now which is good. 300 down!

Monday 31/8

Monday 31st Aug
Well today had tinges of summer. Warm spots around the place of about 17 degrees with smoke haze all over. Not a very exciting ride but lovely way to kick off a Monday riding through the Lane Cove  National Park. Even saw a wallaby hopping off into the scrub. Mind you it was chilly down by the river...

Sunday 30/8

Sunday 30th Aug
Well I have to step my game up so woke at 5am and did some rinse and repeat laps on Ryde Road before meeting with the HHGG cycling group for a ride out to Frenchs Forest and back. Good pace - 28KMsp/hr and Billy came off at 50km an hour down Allambie rd. All ok but ruined his $400 knicks! 14% done...

Thank you to my Sponsors
